Heritage Office Publishes the Register of Protected Sites

The Heritage Office of the Velocity Interoperability Network today published the Register of Protected Sites. The Register opens with eighteen entries, confirmed by the Office from the lists formerly kept by member organisations: six scheduled monuments, eight listed buildings, of which two are listed at Grade I and six at Grade II, three conservation areas and one registered landscape.

The entries are spread across the six principal sites of the Network. They include the Central Exchange Hall and the Southbank Terminal Building, both listed at Grade I; the Northgate Relay Tower and the Meridian Line Boundary Stones, both scheduled monuments; and the conservation areas of Exchange Square, the Southbank Warehouse Quarter and Westbrook Village. Every entry carries a reference number, a statement of the reasons for designation and a map of the protected extent, available on request.

During the transition period from 10 August to 5 September 2026 the Office reviewed thirty-one entries from the lists of member organisations. Eighteen were confirmed to the Register, nine were held for further assessment and four were declined.
